Universal Audio LA610 MKII Classic Tube Recording Channel

Sweetness. I'm not a pro. Just an amateur karaoke guy. This thing is really nice and well-built. Has tons of gain and warms up your tone. The gain setting is -10, -5, 0, +5 and +10. I use -5 level on all my vocals. The EQ section I leave the LOW at zero and I boost the high to +3 at 7KHz. The compressor is really nice and easy to use. Just 2 knobs, can't get any easier than that. The unit does get a bit warm on top so make sure you don't have anything blocking the vents on top. My signal chain is as follows: Neumann TLM 103 mic-->UA LA-610 Mk2 preamp-->Zed 12FX mixer-->Focusrite Forte audio interface-->Win7 PC using Cubase or Audacity software. This unit retails at $1,599 but I got mine used thru amazon for 950 plus shipping. Under a grand for a pro level awesomeness. Think of it this way, u spend about a grand in upgrading your PC every 5 years. This unit for about a grand it'll last you a lifetime. Will never get old.

If you are thinking about buying this and improving your recording sound quality you should do it. You get what you pay for and this product is what a professional recording studio might use for tracking bass, guitar or vocals. It's not cheap but if you want your home recordings to sound like something produced in a recording studio, then this product will help. Good company with great products.
