3 and a half.
A slow read. Not as good as Book Lovers. Most of the book goes on and on without keeping me on tenter hooks. Characters are poorly portrayed if at all. I had a hard time building a mental image of what they looked like and who they were. I think the author could have been more explicit there. Also the relationship between P and A was not plausible. Spoilers here - two friends making out like that was cringe worthy for me.

This book has two titles
I bought this book after I already bought & read “People We Meet On Vacation”. It’s the same book with another name. Confusing & a bit frustrated! I had to pay shipping to send it back 😔

Amazing
This book is written from Poppy's pov and at first I wasn't sure whether this would work for me. But my goodness, this writing style took nothing away from the story. The author's writing is brilliant - crude, real, funny, witty. Definitely recommended reading

Amazing!
This was so good I couldn’t put it down! Beautifully written you can’t help but relate to Poppy and how she feels. It’s complicated, it’s messy, it’s real and it’s beautiful! If only we could all find our Alex Nihlsen’s, the world would be a much more beautiful place ❤️

It was everything I hoped it would be
Alex and Poppy first met at the University of Chicago. He caught her eye on the first day and she decided to introduce herself. You couldn’t have found any two people so polar opposite to each other, this eventually ended up being a good thing because within 12 months or so they became the best of friends. This friendship spans over 12 years and only deepens every summer when they go on vacation together. Poppy’s spontaneity and fantastic sense of humour delivers up some very witty and hilarious banter between the two of them. I love how Alex knows what she is thinking and plays along with the games she makes up. I loved his dry sense of humour and how Poppy brings out the ‘Naked Alex’ when they are together - which is the unguarded version of him nothing to do with nudity at all :)They share so many wonderful times together, travelling around America at first and then when Poppy gets a job working for a travel publication, they venture into countries around the world. They share their innermost secrets and thoughts, which only adds to the depth of love and respect they have for each other. They aren’t a ‘couple’ however, throughout this story they both date other people and at one point all holiday together with their respective partners.‘Vacations always end. It’s the very fact that it’s finite that makes travelling special. You could move to any one of those destinations you loved in small doses, and it wouldn’t be the spellbinding, life-altering seven days you spent there as a guest, letting a place into your heart fully, letting it change you.’A situation is alluded to throughout the story, one that has affected them so much, they haven’t seen each other for the last two years. Until Poppy decides to reach out and see if Alex is up for one last holiday together. Seeing each other again is the balm they were both needing. They have both missed each other terribly and they slip back into the comfortable familiarity they have always had together. This holiday will define the future of their friendship and it was everything I hoped it would be!‘Poppy, of course it was because of you. Everything is because of you. Everything.’‘I can’t be the break from your real life, and I won’t be the thing that keeps you from having what you want.’This is my second reading experience from Emily Henry and once again she completely captured all of my attention and made me feel like I truly was on holiday. To this end, I decided to fully embrace the holiday theme and did lots of lounging around, drinking copious amounts of wine and soaking in the hot tub over the weekend :)

Book gives feels
But it felt a little bit annoying that it took them 12 years to make decision finally made decision.I think they were good friends, but the level of mistrust, understatement is just frightening. It's good that both characters went to a psychologist to fight their inner demons. But the fact that it took them so many years and the fact that they hurt a lot of other people in the process made the second part of the book less light and fun and more so that it leaves an aftertaste. In addition, the logic, I am afraid to say about my feelings, because I am afraid to lose, to be rejected and in the end to lose it sounds strange.Throughout the entire book, they did not say directly about their feelings and desires, their first kiss happens when both are drunk. And the second time was during a quarrel. That is, for 12 years no one dared to ask?I liked the first part of the book more, I didn't even go to bed until the morning until I had read half of it.But what saddened me most at the end was the misunderstanding. It was hard to believe that Alex had just abandoned the woman he had been in love with for 12 years, because she could not say the right things urgently before he left.If it weren't for this and the book was without this episode, I would be completely satisfied. in my opinion, such problems need to be solved together, instead of closing in on yourself and ignoring your partner. The epilogue was good. This is my second book by this author, I like her stories, at first it is a little difficult to get used to her writing style.I may not like the characters, but the book definitely made me feel something, even if it's not entirely a pleasant feeling.

Love story magic
Like any romance, you begin the book in anticipation that the leads will end together. They do.But in any slow burn romance, how they end up together is what matters. And in Emily Henry's capable hands, the story makes you curious about what happens next, while also making you laugh, and making your heart flutter.I would buy this and the Beach Read, and whatever Emily writes next!

a warm, cute romance between two polar opposite bff's
There isn't much to say about this book other than that it was a fun read. Though I think Beach Read was a better book than this one, I did like certain things about it. Like how Poppy and Alex's friendship was and how Poppy's childhood experiences held her back and how she figured it all out. Although I did get bored at one point and felt like I just needed to skip to the point where it all makes sense again. So that's why I'll give it a 3.5. I loved Emily's writing in Beach Read and somehow, I didn't quite like it as much in this book. But if you like best friends to lovers, lots of pining and vacation vibes, this book has it!

Emily Henry is Amazing!
There is something about Emily Henry and her way with words that you love the books but you understand how the story ends. Her stories have a very realistic ending making me believe that this is fictional but maybe if it ever had to happen in real life this is how it would end and I absolutely love THAT about her books! Lovely read, you should go for it♥️♥️

Loved it
I enjoyed the book a lot, it had me smiling one minute weeping the next. Alex and poppy are relatable characters that just want to be happy and loved unconditionally. Could not put it down but didn't want it to end at the same time.
