authenticity of photos and script
The photography is stunning. Very helpful as a field guide, and just plain interesting to sit down and look through. My husband and I live on a lake, with plenty of wildlife, including spiders and insects. This is an excellent guide to "critters" in your own back yard Both interesting and educational.

Another great field guide from NAS
We are collectors of field guides in our home. This is a pocket guide, so it is not large, it is not goign to tell you everything there is to know about every bug on the planet. It literally fits perfectly in the back pocket of a pair of blue jeans. It has beautiful, full color photos like all NAS guides, what it doesn't have is rare insects or tons of info. Great for kids, great for starters just getting into field guides or nature study.

I Love It!
This book is perfect for my birdwatching/hiking bag. This helps my husband and I identify critters along the hiking path or while we camp. I love it!

Good gift for a kid...Really!
I bought this for my 6 year old nephew. He reads far above his grade level so I certainly do not recommend this for all kindergardeners. But it is simple, to the point and has great pictures. For kids who love bugs this is a great book.

totally useless
if you are interested in spiders, this is NOT the book for you. If you are interested in anything else, this is NOT the book for you. Spend the big bucks and get a real book on spiders. This is a waste of time. there are only 4 spiders in it!!!! very annoyed.

Good pictures, consider it is a pocket guide.
Yeah, the pictures on this book are great, but dont ever forget that it is a pocket guide, so you wont find any insect, you will find common ones, but even some common insects are not listed, anyway it is a good book for begginer in order to learn the difference among different insect orders.I consider it a good book for experts on the matter to because of the detailed and colorful photos.

Perfect for Friend with Arachnophobia
My friend was bitten by a nasty spider a few years ago. She needs to identify all spiders ow!
