Incredible price for a entry level Hobby-Grade drone.
First of all, Altair's customer service is on point. The drone came with a non-working charger. I sent a support message two days before New Years, I had a call back in ten minutes and they had me a charger and battery to me a day after New Years... that's incredible. Most drones are made by chinese companies, and as I can attest from my love of 3D printers, chinese companies' customer support is hit or miss. Mostly miss and it takes forever to get anything done. The drone itself: I got this drone to get better at flying after having destroyed several pocket drones and finally feeling confident with my piloting skills, I knew it was time to move up. This drone is powerful and its fast and Ive already slammed it into rocks at an abandoned golf course while trying to do something stupid and it doesnt even have a scratch. This drone does not have all the battery draining assistance most other drones come with and I actually like that. I've had a few days flying time with it and I'm already cresting the learning curve and experimenting with flips. Speaking of flips, they are instant and tight, and timing them right with throttle adjustment makes for a lot of fun. I can't say enough good things about this drone and best of all, the price is insane for the drone you're getting.Cheap camera option: I put a campark xtreme-i on it and it fits perfect. This drone would make for a great training drone for someone wanting to practice aerial photography. If you can work these sticks to get butter smooth shots, you'll be a pro when you have a more advanced drone in your hands.Bottom line: This is a quality drone. I love it and I can't imagine getting tired of flying it...Hats off to Altair

Great beginner drone, but not all that is claimed in the product description
First off, the Blackhawk is a fun drone to fly and has been great for a beginner like me. That said, not everything was as advertised. For those that don't know, the Aerial Blackhawk is the same as the DROCON Bugs 3, but costs about 50% more. (Blackhawk is currently $120 vs $80 for the Bugs 3 on Amazon) I liked the styling and color of the Blackhawk better. My friend bought a Bugs 3, it has an injection molded frame. The Blackhawk was advertised as having: "Heavy Duty ConstructionThe Blackhawk is built with a stable metal body which is quite the upgrade from plastic drones."I can tell you what I received was the exact same injection molded plastic frame as the Bugs 3, so it looks like I paid more for nothing. Buyer beware.Quality-wise the Blackhawk is nice for its price. I installed the landing legs and prop guards thinking I could do a little flying indoors and have a margin of protection for the propellers. With just 2 flights on the Blackhawk I was noticing that every landing resulted in the prop guards contacting the propellers. Every landing I made was soft. The prop guards are just flimsy. I removed them to prevent further damage to the propellers.I made a few flights with the camera mount in place. It's not the greatest construction, but it holds my GoPro tight and provided some nice footage.Radio range is adequate but generally not as far as advertised. Between this drone and my friend's Bugs 3, don't plan on doing any flying that's not line-of-sight. The radio just isn't good enough.I really like the bright head lamp on the front of the unit. It works well for orientation in flight. The under-body LEDs can be seen better as dusk, but don't do much during the day. One of the LED elements was flickering and burned out right away. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a downer on a brand new unit.Overall a great quad and I would recommend this or the Bugs to a friend.

Flies Fast, Really Fun But Make Sure you Practice
I read about the Altair Blackhawk online and the reviews were great, they said it's a fast and fun to fly drone which is true. I'm pretty happy with that part of it. I've flown some other recreational drones and the were mostly children's toys. This one is powerful, flies for a long time and goes a long ways.I've had it out to a range where I could barely see it, the box says it gest 300 meters and I"m sure It does. Also the battery life is great, compared to other smaller drones you can get at least double the flight time fromt he Blackhawk, I timed it out at 18 minutes on one of my first flights. The one drawback is that you're going to need to practice some to fly the Blackhawk well, I think that comes with the territory as you move up from the toy drones to more intermediate level rec drones like this one.Altogether it's a really great value for the tech specs, 15+ minute flight time, 300+ meter range, and really responsive handling.I'd recommend it for anyone older than 14, this isn't the right drone for small kids, but if you're a teenager you can handle it with some practice, and it's going to be a lot of fun!

U get what you pay for.
Unpredictable turning it on. Takes several attempts. Maneuvering is very difficult. Controls are not easy. Drone is too light without camera and is unmanageable in slight winds. Controls don’t really work as supposed to every time. Calibration is impossible.

What Quality Control
Seems quality Control is not top on the list with this company. The controller had very flakey trim buttons. The devise its self seemed cheaply made. One of the trim buttons was frozen. No one checked this device. There are no quality control stickers anywhere. I'm returning it and I won't but from this company again. I will buy another one but not from this maker!
