Q: Weight i weigh 270 lbs will it work well?

I weigh 240 (and I've been heavier) and it works for me. But I've noticed that all but the densest foam tends to go flat under my weight after a couple of years, while it's still fine under my very petite wife. I've recently taken to flipping them over every few months to get a little more life out of them. The option of a firmer pad would be welcomed by me (hint, hint).

Q: how long does it take before actually expanding and ready to sleep on?

I put it on a spare bed at 11 am to expand and 'air out', and I'd say after 24 hours (at 11 am following day) it was close enough to full expansion, that if I'd wanted to- I could have slept on it just fine. The room was warm (the heat was still on) which I understand can make a difference- if the room is cold, full expansion could take a little longer. No worries about airing out by the way-the odor was negligible. I'd say between 24 and 36 hours tops would do it- to be sleep ready. Great topper!
